Everyone loves a wool coat

Our 'Slowing Slugs' project might not have found a sure-fire mollusc deterrant, but don't throw out your sheep's wool pellets just yet! Although more of an anecdotal result, we did see that plants muched with a nice wool coat seemed to be larger than those without. Since this project didn't assess the final yield of plants (and we tend to fertilise our veggies anyway), we can't say that wool mulch increases how much produce you get - but it seems to support sturdier starting positions. More of a concern for leaf crop plants, where the vegetative part of the plant is the bit you eat!

The Kale plant with sheeps wool mulch is bigger than plants without.
